Hygiene Treatments

For Adults & Children

As a dental hygienist, I'm committed to providing you with tailored care that caters to your specific oral and general health needs, whilst providing you with the most up to date evidenced based advice to support you in the prevention of dental diseases. On this page, you'll find details about the different types of hygiene appointments available, each designed to address different aspects of your oral needs.

Routine Hygiene Appointment

Dental research has linked gum disease to a number of health conditions. By investing in regular hygiene appointments, you're investing in the longevity of your smile and your general health. During this appointment I will assess your gum health and carry out an oral cancer screen. This treatment focuses on the meticulous removal of plaque, tartar, and surface stains from your teeth. This preventive appointment is essential for the prevention of gum disease. As your hygienist, I will also provide you with personalised guidance enabling you to sustain effective oral hygiene practices at home.

Deep Periodontal Cleaning

In some cases, when routine hygiene appointments have not been maintained, and oral care has dropped, patients can develop periodontitis, or gum disease which requires a more extensive scaling treatment. Deep periodontal cleaning removes the plaque and tartar from the periodontal pockets which have formed under the gums allowing inflammation to heal. Often this treatment requires multiple appointments in the clinic and may be carried out with the use of local anaesthetic. Measurements of your pockets will be taken and monitored to ensure the treatment has been successful.

Routine Hygiene for Children

Introducing your child to proper oral care at a young age is crucial for a lifetime of healthy smiles. During your child's routine hygiene appointment, I focus on creating a comfortable and educational experience. I gently clean their teeth, whilst emphasising the importance of good brushing habits. We discuss age-appropriate oral hygiene techniques, diet tips for strong teeth, and I will endeavour to answer any questions your child might have. Together, we can lay the foundation for excellent oral health, reduced anxiety and ensure your little one grows up with a confident, vibrant smile.
